Global Move Security  View press release

A proprietary product of RFID Decisions and RFID Global Solution.

Global Move Security (GMS) is a solution, developed by RFID Decisions and RFID Global Solution, for the freight forwarding industry and specifically for the management, control and security of military family international household goods shipments.

The business need revolved around the desire to provide in-transit visibility for the service member and for the firms involved in the movement of the military family’s household goodsbetween duty stations.  Once our customer was made aware of RFID technology they recognized it had the potential to provide the ability to uniquely and automatically identify shipments, and their contents, in a way that could never be done before.

The initial system design was undertaken and a prototype system was constructed.  The systems were deployed in an efficacy test involving shipments between Nüremberg, Germany and Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington.  The results demonstrated a high degree capability and confidence that the system would deliver as designed.

This proven capability overcomes severe limitations in the industry by providing the technology enabler to allow automation of many of the data processing functions within the industry.  The latent ability to reduce claims through significant improvements in security that the technology offered provided additional benefit.

As a result of the technology implementation and the visibility of the goods at various points along the way provided improved security and true in-transit visibility for not only the family members but to the freight forwarders.

How it works - Visibility throughout the journey

RFID tags are affixed to individual items and to the lift-vans they are loaded into.  The data is recorded in an easy to use hand held device which provides the basic input for the items and lift-vans that constitute a particular shipment.

Moving the shipments through dock doors that are equipped with antennas to read the RFID tags can provide a total 10 points of visibility and tracking.

The antennas, which are mounted on the agents’ dock doors, are connected to a “dock door server” which captures the tag data when it passes through the doorway and transmits it to the “Global Move Security” server.

The information received by the GMS server is the precise arrival and departure data of the items identified in a shipment. This data is compared to the information originally captured at the time of packing to insure that all the items constituting a shipment have made it to the next location. Any missing items can be identified as to the exact location they no longer were in the shipment.
